i'm home!

i spent 2 nights in vegas and 1 night at my aunt's in arizona (well, it's 20 minutes away from both california and nevada)

let's just say...i didn't get to do much in vegas because i came down with some food poisoning or some stomach bug and spend most of tuesday throwing up...i couldn't keep anything down.

soooooo.....all that shopping and taking pictures and walking up and down the strip that i planned to do while i was in vegas.....yeah, didn't get to do any of that. pfft.

for not being 21 yet, i've been to vegas way too many times though, so it's all good. i do believe that next time i'm in sin city, it'll be after my 21st birthday! caroline is going to go wild....well, not really.

i did shop a bit while at my aunt's though. i got 2 blazers on clearance for under 8 bucks, one of those cool sequined shrugs i wanted, 2 pairs of jeans, a cool top, earrings, necklaces, a pair of those big sunglasses (which aren't the best for my face but they're fun so i thought what the heck!)....oh and i got cool jewelry and a cool gold purse in vegas at this everything $10 store in our hotel (excalibur).

since a bunch of you people are going to vegas for CHA i should do a post on vegas highlights.....

oh and my exciting news. well i can't publicly say what it is until next month. damnit i'm going crazy here! hahah!

i have a couple of pictures....but since i'm too lazy to upload them, i'll just wait til tomorrow!

Merry Christmas Eve!

I've been out and about all week and I've finally got a moment to sit, breathe and update the blog!

So yes, I've been playing and eating alllll week long. 'Tis what happens when all your friends come home and I love it!

I don't even remember what I've done. Nothing big, but a bunch of little things. All I remember is that I've eaten out a ton this week. haha.

My camera's sort of been in hibernation. haha.

OH, I've got some exciting news. Not sure if I'm allowed to say what it is yet, but I am excited. whoo hoo!

My no buying scrapping supplies until after Christmas plan didn't go over so well especially after my grandma gave me a gift early. I think I've gone scrap shopping twice this week. Whoops. And I'm still pretty much short on lettering things!

random monday thoughts

my scrapping mojo is missing. i sit down and i don't feel like producing anything. actually, i think it's more a case of "i don't feel like scrapping any of my photos"-itis. so if any of you would like to photo swap with me, PLEASE DO!! :D *insert huge hopeful grin here*

so my first full week of vacation. and it seems like it's going to be a vacation full of FOOD. lots of it. the ginormous amount of caffiene intake i've been having the last couple of months made me lose a few pounds so at least i have some room to work with, right? hahah.

so my buddy elaine was listing all the things she had planned for break. so far mine reads something like this: vegas/arizona (26th-29th or so), christmas at auntie's, downtown outdoor ice skating (we're going at night which should make it very pretty but it's gonna be freezing. for my so-cal ass anyways), SHOPPING (i am in very bad need of jeans and winter clothes), scrapping, taking picture (it's gonna be a break FULL of pictures), fondue again (probably just for dessert yummmm), movies (narnia...and other things), watching the vegas bowl (elaine goes to cal so she would really like to watch this), watching the sun bowl (she threw this in for my sake since UCLA is playing in it), EATING EATING EATING. and other things i don't have planned just yet.

so i just barely started my christmas shopping yesterday. well, i'm making most of my presents....but those presents have yet to be started. i am so so soooo bad. such a procrastinator.

we had our newspaper christmas party on friday. i didn't take a ton of pictures. but one of the photogs took nice pics of me so if i ever get them....haha. everyone thought i was drunk (even though i was completely sober!!) because i kept laughing so hard, but everyone is so freaking hilarious so i couldn't help it! and i finally made up my mind. i will be returning for my FOURTH semester on staff. am i crazy or WHAT?!

i haven't really taken very many pictures this month. perhaps my camera is recovering from them PODs last month.

i successfully resisted the urge to go scrap shopping today. sometimes laziness has its virtues. i really want to go tomorrow, though. someone help me. please. hahaha.

hello my name is caroline, and i am addicted to the sims 2. hahah. that game is really hilarious. i created all my friends as sims. soooo funny.

i am also addicted to playing graffiti with friends. sooooooo hilarious. everytime i play that with them, i sooo cannot stop laughing. such great times.

i wanna play mah jong this break...haven't done that with the buddies in awhilst.

so i leave you with this cool picture. it's an out-of-focus shot (on purpose, i put it on macro and just didn't get close to it so it wouldn't focus) of the christmas tree of the girl who hosted the courier christmas party. i would like to make a banner out of this but i have been lazy. oh well.

do YOU fondue?

We went to the Melting Pot yesterday to fondue. It was yummy. Especially the chocolate, which was just DIVINE. YUMMMMMMMMM....

Anyways, a couple of pictures. They sort of suck. It was funny because I was reading Xangas and everyone else that took pictures was like "these suck because of XYZ." Well mine suck because it was on night flash half the time and people kept moving. pfft.

One more day 'til bliss...

How cute is this thing? I'm a gingerbread latte fan, so I love this time of year for that. I was totally a lover of the Starbucks version until I was at Borders one day and ordered one from Seattle's Best Coffee, which is inside our Borders. Not only did I fall in love with this little gingerbread man on top of my drink but it tastes better than Starbucks's. Yum. Starbucks's version is slightly cheaper though.

So yes, I was at Borders this morning, planning to flip through mags and study for my bio final. Except, studying ended up being out of the question because of these people that were pissing me off majorly. There was this one lady who was on her cell phone the entire time....actually, it was more like every time she hung up, it rang again. I swear that thing went off every 2 minutes. To make it worse, her ring was my ring so every time it went off, I kept thinking it was MY phone...yeah. And next to me, this woman was having a therapy session or something. Well I dunno what they were discussing because they were speaking Armenian or something, but she was talking to this other woman who had a pen and pad in her lap, so that's what my little brain thought it was.

Seriously. I go to bookstores to get peace and relax. Pfft.

Oh, while at Borders I saw the new Simple Scrapbooks, with my pal Nadine's photo in the "Focus on Photos" section. It was beeeyooootiful, so I demand everyone go check it out!

My bio final wasn't that hard. The problem was that I thought it would be 50 questions like the rest of the tests, and was extremely surprised when I saw 100. But most of the questions were off the old tests which I had so.

So glad bio class is over. Seriously. My prof = an asstard. I swear, he told us 492834023804 times that he was teaching anatomy next semester and I kept thinking "well that's another reason not to take it!"

Tomorrow, I have to turn in a bunch of stuff for newspaper and then I'll be done. For 3.5 weeks, anyways.

I tried some Diginess.

So I decided that I wanted to try it for once. So I DLed a free kit from Shabby Princess last night. I DLed the Holiday Magic kit because it was cute, but then realized that I had no Christmas-y pictures (yet)! haha. I played with it today and that is what I got.

I don't think I'll give up the paper anytime soon, though. I just love the cutting and pasting action of paper scrapping. And actually touching my supplies. And getting my fingers dirty. Whoo hoo.

But I must say - digi was quite fun. But digi-inking was hard. hah.

Ice Princess?

I dug out some of my old skating photos because of a LO I had in mind...good memories.

So the first thing that came to mind when I first saw these was "damn! I look really skinny!"

These are from, like, 7th or 8th grade. I think 7th grade because these are my old skates.

And this is my skating picture from a couple of months ago....

Haha.

First thing on my list for this winter break is ice skating, I think. Whoo.

Okay, I was feeling nostalgic, okay?

Mondays fart.

Okay, not quite Monday yet.

Only two more weeks to go, though, (actually more like 1.5) so that's good.

Um, so my vanity and I took photos of myself today. Well, it was because I needed one for a LO I had in mind and I hadn't taken one since...for a few months.

That was the first time I picked up my camera in what seems like forever!

So them LOs I made...I made 2 for the Reality Scrapbooking call that I really really like....and I'm itching to post, but I can't. I swear, it's driving me NUTS.

But I can let you peek at these -

For the Effer Dare. When I first started scrapping seriously this year, I had the Memory Makers top 50 issue, and they said that paint chips were one of the trends....so when I went to Wal-Mart, I picked a BUNCH of them up. I'm talking a TON (I'm so bad). Anyways, I never ever used them on a page. Until now. I think I should start using these more often because they're kind of fun to use. Perfect for a girl like me who LOVES color!

Nadine and I challenged each other to lift each other. I chose her "Keep on Rockin'" LO because I love the design soooo much. So fun!

In other news...UCLA totally stunk it up against USC this weekend. It was PAINFUL. I think the final score was like 66-19. It looked like UCLA just decided to give up before the game started or something...Drew Olson, who's been hot all year, totally just wasn't feeling it. I was expecting them to actually make it CLOSE and an actualy GAME but it just ended up being in embarrassment. pfffft.

Oh well.

So my friend Elaine and I were talking about the future....how I'll be "starting college all over again" next year...this is what my other reality scrapbooking layout was all about. How I'm excited...but also scared and worried about being on my own.....Also...We'd been talking about her going to law school and me either working in magazines or going to grad school in NYC....and sharing a loft....we were talking about that again. So cool. I was actually going to apply to Syracuse to transfer to, but decided against it. One reason was because of the weather (I'm a spoiled so-Cal girl, what can I say?!) but the other reason was because I don't feel ready to move that far away from home just yet. But by the time I graduate from UC wherever, I would be. So cool if that would happen....

TGIF

And boy, am I glad that it's Friday because I sure am EXHAUSTED.

It's like starting to rain here. No fun.

Effer dares are back! It's funny though because when I first saw that ad I thought "scrapping inspiration" but never did anything with it.....now I can. lol.

So now that applications are over and the last issue of the paper is out, I'm just about free. Except for finals, but I only really have one "real" final, and even though it's bio, it's not cumulative so I'm not stressing TOO much over here. Maybe when it gets closer to it, I will....

And so now that I can relaxed, I scrapped yesterday. And scrapped, and scrapped some more and next thing you know it was 2 a.m. and I had to get up at 7. Whoops.

(click for a bigger image)

Can anyone believe it's already December? I mean geez. This year went by fast. This semester went by really, really REALLY fast!

It's kind of hard to believe that by this time next year, life will be a lot different. More on that later.

So the beginning of the month means a new garden at 2Ps. I forgot again this month, whoops. But I must say that this month's garden was absolutely amazing. WOW WOW WOW.

I so cannot wait until all my friends are done with school too because then we can play!

The outdoor rink in downtown L.A. opened up a few weeks ago, so that's on my list of things to do. Yes, there is such a thing as an outdoor rink over here. Although it's a bit too teensy for the figure skater in me, I like it because it's cool when you skate and look up and you're surrounded by all these cool, tall buildings. I haven't been there in a really long time, though.

I also want to go to the Grove, which is like a really nice outdoor mall because I heard their decorations are really pretty and I'm the camwhore, of course!

My friend Jenny, who is studying abroad in Hong Kong this year, is also coming back for winter break so I CANNOT WAIT.

So many things to look forward to!!! But right now, I'm just looking forward to sleeping in this weekend. hah.

DONE!!!!

It's almost 2 a.m. here, but I am DONE with the UC application/personal statement.

The reason it took so long was because of the personal statement. I had no idea how to answer the questions. Until yesterday.

SO RELIEVED it's done. Now I can go worry about other things.

I am SO going to need an insane amount of caffiene tomorrow.....

Off to bed I go.

Sunday, November 27, 2005

My break is almost over?! :(

175 pictures. 175 pictures and I think I pissed everyone off because we were playing charades and one of the clues was me. So this is how they acted it out - as someone going around and snapping pictures of everything. And everyone knew what the answer was.

Oh well. Such is the life of a scrapbooker.

But anyhow, last night was a blast. Cheesecakes and pie came out good, placecards were a hit, and decorations were done, even though it came out nothing like I wanted it to due to lack of time.

Everyone thought they were cute anyways, so that was good.

Food was awesome and I ate until I couldn't breathe anymore. Cranberry salad, butternut squash soup (with apples!), turkey, ham, stuffing (my favorite, although I still miss my aunt's), mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, cornbread, biscuits, cranberry sauce....

The best thing of all, though, was spending time with these buddies. Some of these people have just become acquaintances that I see only at these sorts of gatherings once or twice a year, but that's okay. I love 'em just the same. And then there are those people I don't see that often but wish I saw them more...and I love being able to be with them. Yep.

Everyone at the table...

Linda Kim, who was my friend in like first grade...she used to be my neighbor! And then she switched schools and we were reunited in high school. I don't see her much anymore, though.

Christian the pimp. Long story. But I wish I saw him more often because he brings in lots of good times.

Nora, Julie and Linda Kwong. Nora and Julie I see sort of often, but Linda goes to school in Berkeley and that's a bit far. Nora always does these ditzy things that never fail to crack us up, and Julie is so silly. Linda is a bit of a dork and that always cracks us up. Oh, in this picture, we're imitating Nora, whose Myspace picture looks sort of like this pose. She says it's because she put her camera on self-timer and she had to pose like that. Yeaaaaaah....

Louis, my ex from like freshman year of high school. Glad we've stayed on great terms. I wish I saw him more often, though, because he's such a cool guy. But he's busy and so we catch up during times like these.

Elaine, who is like the coolest chick EVER.

p.s. I think I'm still used to my old computer. My old computer wouldn't let Blogger Images work, so I used Photobucket....and when I was typing this up I went over to Photobucket...then I thought "wait a sec." whoops.

Picturesssss :)

From this week!! Yayness :)

{11/21/05}

From bio lab. We got to poke through owl pellets to find bones of things the owl ate. Sort of gross but interesting....

{11/22/05}

This pic was actually not taken on Tuesday, but it fits. I was telling my friend Elaine about my new desktop picture -

HYPER starre x: my desktop image is of a bunch of pennis
HYPER starre x: pennies*
HYPER starre x: not penises
HYPER starre x: haha
Elaine: hahahhahahaha
Elaine: I'm going to quote that
HYPER starre x: pennies damnit

She posted that on her livejournal. lol. The picture is actually from production day last Wednesday. This guy was walking around with a bunch of pennies in his jacket (which was tied around his waist) pockets and when he started dancing and spinning around, they all fell out. He then stacked them and counted them.

{11/23/05}

My new computer! Yayness. Not the best shot, but will do. Oh, and did I tell you that I'm really obsessed with my new printer? The picture quality is AWESOME. And having a scanner ROCKS! whoo!

{11/24/05}

Me, my parents and my grandma ended up at Carrows for Thanksgiving yesterday. What I really missed was my aunt's stuffing! I love stuffing and I think hers is the best - she puts chestnuts in it! But this applie pie was good. Yum.

{11/25/05}

Julie, who is hosting the Thanksgiving bash tomorrow, made me and my other friend Nora go grocery shopping with her...and then help with some prep. This was our cart at Ralph's. We ended up shopping at 3 different markets to get everything we needed - Ralph's, Albertson's and an Asian one for cheap produce. SO here's us prepping too -

Tomorrow will be busy. I have to make 20 of these babies -

(can you tell I'm trying to use up my Fall Stack?!) and then I have to make "decorations" which will be 6x6 LOs hung on clothespins. I also have to bake 2 pumpkin cheesecakes and a pumpkin pie. More helping Julie. Should be fun though!

Nadine challenged me to finish 15 LOs this weekend. I'm at four. Looks like I'm not going to be finishing the other 11. Pffffft.

Wednesday, November 23, 2005

Happy Thanksgiving :)

PODs will resume...soon :) hahah. I'm just lazy.

This LO was inspired by an entry in Amber's blog...and then I posted it on 2Ps and discovered it was the Garden challenege of the week. So. I just felt like using these papers but I don't have very many girly pictures so the "girly" papers (which I buy a ton of) end up going on my "me" pages...

Nothing too special for tomorrow since most of my family is out of town....it's just me, my mom and dad, and my grandma so we're going out to eat. I, however, CANNOT wait until Saturday which is the annual friends Thanksgiving dinner! yayness! I have to make pumpkin ceesecake. yummm.

Hope you have a good Thanksgiving! :)

FINALLY on the new computer.....and PODs

So my dad set this thing up while I was at the concert last night. WHOOP. LOVE it but the IE sometimes gives me problems....I guess that's my problem, though, because I refuse to use AOL's browser. hah. One of these days, I'll use this as my POD...

I'm also without a photo editing program right now....well, I've got Photoshop that I just have to install, but I'm lazy. And now I've got to learn the darn thing, finally.

Okay, so....

{11/18/05}

Yeah, so that 8-page form has been consuming my mind nowdays. It's due exactly 10 days from today...pretty much done with the filling out part, now I have to worry about the personal statement, which is of course the hardest part of the darn thing. Nervous as hell as to whether or not I'm going to get in anywhere. Maybe I'm overreacting but....I don't know. *fingers crossed*

{11/19/05}

Concert yesterday was fun! It was technically a Simple Plan concert, who I don't care much for, but we really went to go watch these guys - Plain White T's! I'm telling ya, they are AWESOME so if you haven't checked them out yet, please do! They were the first band up and we got there like 10 minutes late (we were having trouble figuring out where to park and kept going in circles) and so we missed part of their act, and so it seemed really short. Anyhow, we got to meet them and get our CDs signed so that was wayyyy awesome! We're going to go see them again on the 14th - can't wait! :) And this time, they're headling. As for the other bands....I really like Straylight Run but their live performance wasn't all that great (and plus we missed most of it when we were getting our stuff signed), they ended up running out of time for Paramore who had to play outside, and although I'm not a huge fan of Simple Plan, I have to admit that I used to love them back in the day and that their songs are catchy, and that they played an entertaining show. It was just um interesting to be with all these teeny-bopper-ish girls. Yep.

{11/20/05}

I went to a Clippers game today. My neighbor has season tickets so I go sometimes....love the way they're playing this year. I can't stand the Lakers, but love L.A.'s "other team" although it's looking like the Clippers are starting to become "L.A.'s team" lately. Motion blurs here, but this was the best I could do.

Saturday, November 19, 2005

I just couldn't wait.....

So, I just couldn't wait until the new computer was ready. Haha. I guess I'll just have to go ahead and burn a CD with only about a week's worth of (not a ton of) pictures.

I *think* it'll be ready around tomorrow, though. The printer is already out of the box but is just sitting on my desk. hah.

Anyways, for your viewing pleasure....

{11/12/05}

My friend Theo. We always say she looks good in anything. Not vests, though, we concluded. This was at Aeropostale. I love their clothes but for some reason they fit really weird so I don't really buy from them. But this day, the whole store was 40% off plus they gave us a 30% off coupon to use. I ended up buying a cool hoodie (LOVED the color, although it could've fit a little bit better...). Except, it's been like 80 degrees over here so I haven't been able to wear it (see Tuesday's pic). Pfft.

{11/13/05}

We went to Barstow to meet up with my aunt who just came back from Japan last week. It's pretty much the halfway point between our place and her place in Arizona. On the way back, we stopped by this Harvey House....basically a train station. I went on the railroad tracks for this shot. hah.

{11/14/05}

....Yeah. These are the boxes that are still sitting in the living room. That is my new computer, monitor and printer in there.

{11/15/05}

Not tooo fond of this shot, but I took it quickly on the way home from school (that is school) and didn't take any shots after this. Anyways, look at the temprature. 'Nuff said.

{11/16/05}

They were having a jazz concert across the hall from the newspaper office Wednesday, so while we were waiting for the front page to finish up, we turned the place into a dance floor. hah.

{11/17/05}

I had to go cover this thing in the art gallery.....when I went outside I took a pic of the campus at night. Love the glow of the lights and the moon here. It looked even cooler on the LCD screen of my camera, though.

And I'll get yesterday's and whatever I take today up whenever the new computer gets set up (sheesh, it's been a week and it's still in the box. hahah.)

I'm going to a concert today! Plain White T's, Straylight Run, Simple Plan and someone else that I cannot remember! whoo!

And my scrapping mojo has gotte up and ran away. I can't find it. I've tried the retail therapy thing (sheesh I've bought a ton of stuff in the last three weeks or so) and yesterday I finally lifted some LOs to get it going....still can't find it yet, though. grrrrrr. Someone find it for me!
