Farewell, Tri

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

My buddy Tri (a.k.a "tree") will take off to go back to Kosovo this morning (actually more like to a base in Washington and then Kosovo). I miss the dude. He cracks me up.

So, as a going-away gift, we presented him this "Tri-butt" magazine:

We actually made one of these for him last year when he was about to go off to training before being shipped off to Kosovo (issue 1). We were trying to recall what was in the last "issue." So that's why I ended up taking a picture of every page. And I'm probably going to be hounded by everyone else to give them a copy of these....

This, in its own way, is basically a scrapbook. Not the way I do it (although, I did end up working on this with a couple of friends from about 7 in the evening to 3 a.m. And I donated some extra patterned paper), but it captures memories and stories, nonetheless. It documents the time we spent with him in the last two weeks and the laughs we had. It's all there, in pictures and words. And, most importantly, it was put together with plenty of love. I guess that's what scrapbooking is really about. Regardless of how you do it.

And, we crafted this to try to make him laugh. Hard. We all have a weird sense of humor. I guess that's what makes us, us.

Making the "magazine" has always been a ton of fun. Lots of fun times involved in the production of it....exhausted but the time went by so quickly. Love these people.

*note* These were all taken using a night flash mode. Which means you absolutely have to stay still while taking the picture and a couple of seconds afterwards. Otherwise, you get this weird double exposure thing like on some of my pictures. Sometimes, it's sort of cool, other times, it's just plain weird...

In other news - can anyone believe it's September already?!

What the heck am I still doing up right now? Oh, yeah, might go to the airport. But probably not so I really should go to bed.....

AWESOME!!! I made a magazine in 8th grade- similar thing. It was a scrapbook, just not in traditional form. =) SO cool that you did this for your friend.
