i bought the nikon d50 friday. i am ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE with the thing! it's awesome! (yay SLRs) i dragged some friends to the park and took these -










those were some of my faves.

doing more photo-taking tomorrow since one of my friends missed it. the rest thought the playing with the playground equipment was fun, so they obliged to another shoot. this time i'm stopping by the dollar store to pick up some props.

oh, and i found out that another friend (that i haven't seen in a long time) also bought a D50 so i'll have a buddy. yay.

anyway, happy new years eve! i can't believe it's already the last day of the year - 2006 went by FAST!!

what happens in vegas....

- lots of traffic
- yummy seafood buffet (gotta love the crabs and the dessert was good!)
- dressing up for a night on the town
- some slot playing
- a tiring amount of walking
- plenty of shopping
- too much food!

hope everyone had a great christmas! :)
went to my friend's christmas party for some secret santa fun, cranium, and food. went to my aunt's for some good food (& dessert!), presents and good 'ol fun. the pictures from either event didn't come out so well, so i'm not posting them :)

my parents left for vegas/laughlin yesterday so i've had the house to myself...did this page with the cocoa daisy kit late last night while watching some gilmore girls.

randomness.

random bits about the last few days -

- i bought these because i discovered them on clearance, and well, why not right. anyways. my friend is having a party tomorrow and we're doing this secret santa exchange. and i kept telling people to spread the word that these were on my list. but i didn't think anyone knew who had me. so i bought them today, came home, told my friend that i bought them. and then she was like "OMG YOU NEED TO RETURN THEM." so i went and returned them a few hours later. guess they will be mine again tomorrow. haha.

- yeah so target was horrendous today. this is what i get for being a procrastinator. everyone should learn from me and not procrastinate. it's bad!

- was hanging out at a friend's and we were scrolling through old livejournal entries. some of us posted some pretty hilarious conversations from AIM on there that we'd forgotten about. being the dorks we were, we acted them out. it was too funny. i think they need to be on a TV show. maybe i'll write one. combined with some of the funny things my family does (i.e. my mother and her sister wearing home my cousin's shoes after family gatherings) it would be such a riot. haha.

- elaine and i also updated our sexy/hot/super-attractive men list. once a year we get bored and come up with it. haha.

- i went to memories earlier this week. everything was 30% off. total spent = $3.14. i mean. seriously. lame.

- i was supposed to purchase my camera on wednesday. but i took the check that would provide the funds for it to the bank and was told i have to wait 5 days for it to clear. which means i have to wait until the 28th (when i won't be here, so i guess the 29th). i am way too impatient and want it NOOOOW.

- had some GOOD pho today! yummm

- some random pictures. i haven't been snapping anything all that interesting, just really random things. and apparently, i can't stop shooting out-of-focus pics of holiday lights. haha!






japanese new years decoration. technically, it's decorative rice cake. it went on the family new years card (which got sent out to japan. in japan, they're the equivalent of christmas cards).

hello, and welcome to the "makes you hungry" blog. today i show you these -

potato ball and mango mousse from portos. we also had cuban sandwiches and cheesecake. GOOD STUFF. mmmm. seriously. i took these photos to make people jealous. and salivate. and they're making ME hungry, too.

anyways. other things
- i baked cookies again today. because i finished off the ones from the weekend. they came out much better this time. last time i added too much flour when i was rolling out the dough. haha.

- i'm going to vegas on the 26th!!! WHOOO.

- got a bunch of layouts picked up today. made my month! i love scrapbook trends! :)

- more inspo journal pages (this is basically all i've worked on lately)

she's up to something....

sort of. then again, not really.
but here's what i've been up to the last couple of days...


on thursday, i had a free lunch (meal, appetizer, drinks, dessert) at the cheesecake factory! they're opening a new one near us, and my buddy amy works there...and invited us to this training session where it's basically a trial run to make sure everything goes smoothly. so they fed everyone for free while the workers got a sense of what they were supposed to do. there was WAY too much food but i LOVE the cheesecake factory so it was awesome! and the kahlua coffee cheesecake was divine. i then shopped, grabbed some boba with another group of friends, and then played mah jong. it was a hilarious game. oh, and i also held the D50 and it was sexy. and it fit in my hands PERFECTLY. yeah, definitely going to buy that thing! and i'm TOTALLY excited!


i baked cookies this weekend! as a holiday treat, the creative team at DD did a virtual cookie exchange...and i needed a recipe AND i needed to make it so i could take a picture of it. you can find the recipe here and the rest of the team's scrumptions recipes over here (i don't know about you but that gallery makes me hungry. and i'm DYING to try out a couple of those recipes!)

in an effort to clean out some junk in my room, i needed to get rid of a bunch of my magazines. so, being inspired by the likes of adrienne, elsie, and kelly (among others), i worked on an inspiration journal. just a bunch of random things that caught my eye and inspired me in one way or another, combined with paper scraps and random scrappy things that were sitting on my desk. just ripped and cut randomly, and pasted. it was fun. and since i've got a TON of mags left to go through, there is more to do! (and even when i fill it up, i'll just start another hehe)

i got my paper back already. i did surprisingly really really well. but i still think it's the worst paper i've ever written.

two more days...

...until this semester is over.

then i can: be lazy, sleep in, scrap, EAT, play mah-jong, go skiing (i think), attend holiday get-togethers, go to vegas (i think), upgrade my camera (i'm planning on doing this by the end of the year!) and take gazillions of pictures, and did i mention scrap? and other things that haven't been planned. this is for the next month or so.

i have to write a 10 page paper and take a final by tuesday though. two things which i'm NOT wanting to do. i'm going to hate myself tomorrow.

but two more days. i can't wait!

in other news, i totally stopped taking PODs. whoops.

and i had a ball scrapping for FUN this weekend -









changed my banner and colors for a christmas look :) the problem is that i'll have to change it to something else again come january. ha.

so i've been seriously considering upgrading my camera, because i've become really frustrated at how slow my SD400 is, and how little control i have on it. i'm leaning towards getting the nikon D50 (or the new D40, which i hear is lighter, which would make me happy). getting it for a present to myself! yay.

back to writing my paper i go.

a day-in-the-life of me...

a story told through 36 photos.

so i finally did alison's challenge on skulls, which i failed miserably at last week.

let's begin.

i woke up around 8:15-ish. i did not take an alarm clock shot this time.


8:35 a.m.- coffee. the breakfast of choice. or at least as close to breakfast as i come.


8:50 a.m.- a bit of compy time before leaving for class.

so speaking of class...i did not go to my women's lit class all last week because the book we were supposed to be reading did not arrive from amazon until thursday. which would be a problem. so anyway. my book showed up, and i was ready to show up. so i do. only to find out that i had forgot to run out of the door with my book. DUH. IDIOT.


10:10 a.m.- late. oops, i did it again! i have class in a meeting room. ha.

i then proceeded to learn that the class had finished the book already, so i had to fake it during discussion. i think i succeeded.


11:25 a.m.- got a stack of papers back. which included this. this being the homework i procrastinated on, only to go to class and find out it wasn't due that day. yay.


11:42 a.m. - i despise the campus bookstore. especially because their prices are ridiculous (i buy my books from other bookstores near campus. or i just don't buy it. or i buy on amazon and have it arrive late). the only time i go to the bookstore is when i need scantrons or blue books. i needed a blue book, so i spent my 32 cents and got out of there.


11:44 a.m. - i wasn't paying much attention when i took this. but seriously. this lies. it was not 71 degrees. 81 was more like it. then again, this thing is in the shade....


12:05 p.m. - oh tar-jay. how i love thee...



12:15 p.m. - specifically, i was there to buy this top, which i'd been eyeing for a few weeks. i tried it on just to made sure it fit, but it was love at first sight. and it fit.


i'd originally wanted this color, but they only had mediums....


12:48 p.m. - so much good stuff all in one place. i really love these shoes. i almost bought them, but i felt guilty about buying 2 pairs of shoes over thanksgiving. but i have a feeling that these are eventually going to be mine...


1:20 p.m. - home again. had to call in my grandma's prescriptions. can i tell you how much i despise the automated phone voice at CVS? at least it's more tolerable than the annoying woman voice that sav-on had. haha.


1:43 p.m. - lunchtime. omelette rice. my once-a-week thing. so my mother sees me with my camera and goes "what are you taking a picture of?" so i'm like "lunch. i have to follow myself around with a camera all day." so she's like "WAIT. don't take it yet. i have to prettify it," and brings out those veggies. hahah.


2:30 p.m. - i needed a nappy. excuse the messy bed...


4:00 p.m. - rise and shine and off to ups. i swear, it took forever. and they almost made me pay for freaking packaging (the for sale one - they were like oh, we only have overnite envelopes). i was like "uhhhh NO." fedex@kinkos is much easier, because it's self-serve until you go pay.


4:27 p.m. - i had a boba craving. passed by quickly's and decided to pick up a tapioca milk tea. only $1.25. but tapex is so much better. oh well, it took care of my craving.


4:45 p.m. - randomly decided to go to j's. and i found these -


not like i needed more paper, especially KI paper...but $12 with coupon (i had one on me). and the tin is cool. so i got it. i am SO bad.


5:27 p.m. - home again. afternoon coffee.


5:36 p.m. - two peas.


5:37 p.m - mom's origami.



6:17 p.m. - i followed my mother around the kitchen.


6:31 p.m. - sudoku time. my daddy kept making fun of me :( grrrrrr.


6:42 p.m. - my parents ignoring me whilst reading the paper. that's okay, though, because i can take pictures of them without them noticing me. ha!


7:12 p.m. - dinner is fish (sole), potatoes and green beans. and leftover mexican rice from the other day. i didn't feel like white rice.


7:42 p.m. - laundry! i was starting to run out of clothes and undies.


8:59 p.m. - laundry in the dryer and chilling out to music on the compy. the light from the monitor makes me look soooo pale, though.


9:37 p.m. - meanwhile, i showered and got the laundry out of the dryer. my laundry is now screaming "fold me, dude." i hate folding. haha. i do it way later.


9:39 p.m. - stick some panic at the disco in the CD and....


9:43 - scrapped. with the those were the days kit. and yes, i FINALLY bought myself a paper trimmer. like last week. cheapo one, but a trimmer nonetheless.


11:08 - scanning and sending to kirsten.


11:23 p.m. - catching up on reading and homework.


12:10 a.m. - i usually watch leno, but discovered that patrick dempsey was on letterman. i found out that it was a rerun, but mcdreamy is mcdreamy. *le sigh*



12:20 a.m. - a midnight snack...literally. asian mango drink and asian cocoa puffs. mmmm.

after that -
i started this blog entry
went to bed around 1:15 ish.
